Duo Åstrand/Salo has, throughout their 25 years of musical collaboration, taken on most of the standard repertoire for violin and piano. Spanning from the Classical era repertoire such as Mozart and Beethoven, they continue through the centuries into the Romantic composers such as Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Strauss. Their artistic collaboration has brought them through the lighter tones of French repertoire including works by Franck, Debussy and Ravel. Duo Åstrand/Salo also brings a strong focus on Danish repertoire reaching from the very heart of Danish classical music with works by composers such as Kuhlau, Gade, Hartmann, and of course Nielsen.
With their unique perspective, the duo has also commissioned, premiered, and revived many works from the 20th and 21st century. With such composers as Langgaard, Bentzon, Nørgård, Gudmundsen-Holmgreen and Abrahamsen the duo continues to push the boundaries of what the celebrated combination of violin and piano are viewed to be able to perform.

Artistically Duo Åstrand/Salo finds architypes and themes to their concerts; each concert tells a story that is tangible to the public. Finding the similarities and common threads through such diverse repertoire is a clear aim of the duo on their musical pursuits.
